Kodak:
- Portra 160, 400, 800 - Slightly muted warm colors, fine grain. For portraits.
- Ektar 100 - Slightly saturated colors, contrasty, fine grain. For bright scenes.
- Gold 200 - Saturated warm colors, medium grain. For bright scenes.
- ColorPlus 200- General “vintage” look- noticeable grain, warm tones and slightly muted colors such as blues.
- Ultra Max 400 - Saturated warm colors, medium grain. Good all around iso.
- Pro Image 100 - Cross between Ektar and Portra. Muted neutral colors, fine grain. For bright scenes.
- Tri-X 400 - BnW contrasty, fine to medium grain, good all around iso.
- T-Max 100- fine grain, super sharp, smooth contrast good dynamic range
- T-Max 400- fine grain, very sharp, smooth contrast good dynamic range
- T-Max 3200 - BnW contrasty, heavy grain, for night/ dark indoor scenes.
Cinestill: all films originally Kodak cinema film
- 800T - Color tungsten (artificial light) balanced low light film. Halation around highlights and bright spots in image. Medium-fine grain, good dynamic range.
- 400D - Color daylight film. Halation around highlights, good dynamic range, has brownish hue.
- 50D - Color daylight film. Halation around highlights, good dynamic range.
- BWXX (aka Double X) - black and white medium grain film. Punchy contrast, deep shadows and bright highlights.
Fujifilm:
- Fujifilm 200 - Saturated warm colors, medium grain. For bright scenes.
- Fujifilm 400 - Saturated warm colors, medium grain. Good all around iso.
- Fujifilm Pro 400H - Saturated greens, blues. For landscape type photography.
- Velvia - Saturated fine grain color slide film. Widely used by Professionals
- Provia - SUPER-fine grain color slide film. Widely used by Professionals
- Acros 100 II - Fuji’s flagship black and white film stock, super fine grain professional film.
Ilford:
- HP5+ - BnW Most popular with students, produces flatter contrast images 400 iso makes for good versatility
- FP4+ - BnW Contrasty images, fine grain, 100iso
- Pan F- BnW Ultrafine grain, popular with landscape photogs 50iso
- Delta 100 - BnW professional film finer grain than consumer film
- Delta 400 - BnW professional film finer grain than HP56. SFX - BnW fine grain film with extended red spectrum sensitivity, giving an ‘infrared type "film look"
- XP2- can be processed using C41 color process. Fine grain, Black and white film highly recommended for beginners into BnW photography, since processing is very accessible and turnaround is fastest at most labs (including TPL).
- Kentmere 100 - Low cost BW film, mild contrast, fine grain
- Kentmere 400 - Low cost BW film, mild contrast, classic grain
Lomography:
- Lomo Color - saturated colors, similar to Fuji consumer stocks, medium grain.
- LomoChrome Purple - Color Art film, turns green spectrum to purple, medium grain.
- LomoChrome Metropolis - color Art film, desaturated colors and has a greenish tint overall.
- Lomo Berlin Kino - BnW, contrasty, fine grain.
- Lomo Potsdam - BnW, contrasty film, medium grain.
- Lomo Color 92- Retro look, with noticeable grain and cool undertones
Amber:
- D400 - Blue color cast (similar to Cinestill 800T) if shot in daylight. Pushes well. Need to use DX code sticker. 27 exposures. High contrast
- D100 - blue color cast (similar to Cinestill 800T) if shot in daylight. 50-400 ISO. DX code sticker. 27 exposures. High contrast.
- T200 - Best suited for Bright artificial light- has cool blue tone if shot in daylight- but less blue than 400
- T800- Classic grain, high contrast, best suited for nighttime and artificial light.
Art Films:
- Dubble - preexposed with color shifts and tones. ex: Light leaks, sweet tones, mellow tones, red cast, purple cast.
- KONO - moonlit 400: wide tonal range, good for studio or landscapes. Dark blacks, medium grain.
- Revolog - preexposed with different textures and colors. ex: snowflakes, stars, lightning bubbles, streaks.
ORWO:
- Wolfen Color NC500 - desaturated colors, medium grain.
- Wolfen BW 100 - Fine grain, deep shadows, brand new film stock.
